April & May MyGlam bags

To contact us Click HERE
I know I'm super late on posting April's myglam bag so I figured I'd include it in this post.  These 2 bags are better then what we got for the February and March Glam bags but despite that, it still leaves something more to be desired.

The theme of April's bag was girls night out which came in this pink metallic bag. Not my style as it seems like it was for a teenager and it was cheaply made. I had trouble trying to zip it back up but the zipper kept getting stuck.
I received :
Urban Decay 24/7 travel sized liner in Radium- This was a good sample, I was going to purchase a bright blue liner anyways but I wouldn't say these are long lasing on my oily lids.
All-Belle lashes- These lashes were alright but I wouldn't repurchase them anyways but if I did, I'd have to order them online since they don't sell them in the US.
DermStore Lip Quench-I'm not sure how I feel about this. It's a nice color to wear everyday but it's so hard to squeeze the product out.
Myglam brushes-All over eyeshadow brush and angled liner brush- These are not the best brushes but they work fine.

May's Myglam bag theme was Love is in the air. Not sure how they got that since it's May and the contents of the bag seemed like it would be more suitable for February. The bag seems better then April's bag but still not something I would use.
I received:
Studio Gear Complete color Lipstick in Winter Red- It was a decent color but I'm not big on wearing red lipstick. I think a lip gloss would of been a better option for the bag since its usually easier to wear if it was a bold color or not. I just gave this to my mom so that's not going to waste.
Philosophy Love Sweet Love eau de toilette sample- I actually like how this smells but I can get a sample of this at Sephora or Ulta
Miss Beauty Nail Bling- I never got into the nail sticker thing like those Sally Hansen ones which are cute but these seem cheesy and juvenile. I tried to Google this brand but nothing came up. So even if I wanted to purchase more, I can't.
Myglam brushes-Concealer brush and eye defining brush- Again, not the best brushes and these are the type that just gets tossed to the side and collect dust. If anything, I can use them as lip brushes.

I've been with MyGlam since the very first bag back in December and had no issues with not recieving a bag like some people did in January. I wanted to give them a chance since it's still a new company.  I know a lot of people bashed on them so much but there are bound to be mistakes when you're just starting out. That's just how it is. I stuck with them even after the not so great stuff in February and March's bags with the coupon codes they tried to pass off as gift certificates and the samples that were far from being deluxe sized samples, hoping for improvement and they did somewhat but I thought the whole point of a subscription or sampling service is to try out products first given that the products were well known and easily accessible. The brushes you can't get anywhere else but on myglams website if you wanted them. The lashes in last months bag would have to be ordered online and I can't even find any info on the Miss Beauty Nail Bling. It just seems like they aren't putting much thought into what they put in the bag.

Did I keep my subscription? No. I'm sure or at least I hope they will only get better but for now I just decided to cancel and save my money for something else.

Review: Real Techniques Expert Face Brush

To contact us Click HERE
I'm not the type of person to hop on the band wagon when it comes to anything beauty related. I like to wait for YouTube or blog reviews before I actually go out and buy them, at least most of the time =P

I've never owned any real techniques brushes despite hearing all the rave reviews on YouTube and the blogosphere. If you asked me why, I couldn't give you an answer but a couple weeks ago Ulta was having a BOGO half off sale on Real Techniques and I also saw that there were 3 new brushes, one of them being the expert face brush with reminded me of a Royal and Langnickel brush that one of my best friends loves. I believe it was the Silk Pro Super foundation brush BC142.

The expert face brush sort of has a paddle shape but instead of being flat, it's rounded which makes it perfect for buffing in your foundation and doesn't leave any lines because it has no edges. It's also small enough to get into those hard to reach places like around the nose and even under the eyes for concealer if you wish. I've tried this with liquid & cream foundation which applies it effortlessly. Even with cream blush and contouring, I couldn't find any faults. If I could point out something I didn't like about this brush, it's probably the wide base which makes this brush somewhat of a hassle to store but I can look past that fact because it doesn't affect the performance of this brush at all.

Like all of the brushes in this line, they're cruelty free made of synthetic taklon bristles. It's super soft, dense and doesn't absorb foundation. The bristles also don't bunch together as fast as some other foundation brushes so you don't have to wash it every other day( I'm talking to you Sephora Airbrush #55!) washing this brush is a breeze and it dries pretty fast too! The way the expert face brush performs, you would think it costs more then the low $8.99 price tag it has.  Ulta is always having sales so be on the look out when they have these on sale. Even if it wasn't, I'd still purchase it because it has become my favorite way to apply foundation.

I hope you found this review helpful if you re in the market for a new foundation brush but are on a budget.

Have you tried out this brush or any other real techniques brushes?

NYX Shine Killer Review

I have oily skin so trust me when I tell you I am always on the lookout for products that will take away oil. This is a new product from NYX, I've only used it once but here are my impressions thus far:

The consistency of the product is hard to describe. Imagine a gel that doesn't feel gooey, more like a velvety texture (somehow that makes sense). Once you spread it on your skin it disappears instantly so I feel like I need to squeeze more product out (but less is probably more). This product doesn't do that weird thing that some primers do, I think it's called pilling, when there's like little balls of the product that don't blend into the skin (just in case you were wondering...).

As far as the mattifying purposes I do feel as though it made a difference in the oiliness on my face, especially the T-zone area. It's not a miracle product, you still need to powder, but I really do feel like it made a difference. I got through most of the day with no shininess whatsoever.

I put it on after my moisturizer and primer, before foundation. It's a little pricey for NYX, @ $13, but I think the price is justified as there are relatively few "low-end" products that are similar. Urban Decay makes a very similar product for twice the price. I also really like the packaging, sleek, easy to use, and air plane friendly.

I'm a slacker...

I've been slacking on the posts of late, I know I feel bad about it. It's my last summer of freedom before grad school begins and join the real world again, so I've been lounging around all day. Not that it's any excuse... Well I will try to make myself put a post a day from now on (let's see how long that lasts lol).

Enjoy this bunny picture I found on disapproving rabbits (my favorite rabbit blog).

Zana Cosmetics Review

I recently received a few products from Zana Cosmetics for review and I am so excited to blog about them :) Zana is an organic cruelty free brand that doesn't use any parabens or other bad for you ingredients. I must say I'm in love :)

Let's get on with the product reviews.

First up is the Exotic Lips - Lip Plumper:

This lip gloss is a milky soft pink that adds a nice shine to your lips as well as slightly plumping them. It gives a tingly feeling as most lip plumpers do but not in an annoying I gotta take this off way ;)

Kiss My Lips Lipstick in Let's Celebrate:

This is the perfect nude lip stick for me. The color is super pigmented and creamy and just looks great on my skine tone, I'm really impressed. My lips were super chapped when I took the pic btw, the lipstick actually made them feel smoother.

Seductive Eyes High Color Shadow in Boo Beige:

I love using this as a highlight color. Super pigmented and very blendable!

Last is the Delicious Cheeky Blush in Tropical Forrest:

I love using this as a bronze highlight, adds a beautiful healthy looking glow.

Overall I love Zana and can't wait to get more of their products :)

In the wake of the Florida Governor's scandalous efforts to purge fully eligible Democratic voters, in order to blatantly steal yet another election, Rick Scott's approval rating is in the toilet where it belongs -- at 31 percent.  And:

Fully 50 percent of Florida voters disapprove of his purge, including 30 Republican elections officials who have refused to move forward with it.

Hillary Launches State Department’s Women in Public Service Institute

The goal of the State Department’s Women in Public Service Institute?

The goal of the program is to make sure women make up 50 percent of the world’s elected leaders by 2050.

Thank you, Hillary!!  She was at Wellesley College where the subject of  Hillary as future Ms. President was again introduced. She was asked if a woman president would result in fewer wars:

“If you get elected as the next president,” began Bothaina Ahmed Attal before she was interrupted by cheers. “As a woman president, we’ve seen lots of wars in our region. Will we have less of that?” “You can’t make generalizations that simply having a woman in a high office means you’ll have a different policy, but you can say that having many women involved in the governments of countries means that many issues important to women will be on the agenda,” Clinton replied. Clinton steered clear of saying whether she would run for president again. She did not say no, but she did say she hopes to live long enough to see a woman in the Oval Office.

George W. Bush’s Decapitated Head Appeared on Game of Thrones (Video)

To contact us Click HERE

There's one hell of a dragon egg hidden in Game of Thrones season one. Turns out one of the many heads on a spike decorating King's Landing belonged to ex-president George Bush...

"The last head on the left is George Bush. George Bush's head appears in a couple of beheading scenes. It's not a choice, it's not a political statement. We just had to use whatever head we had around." We included the video for you to get a better look along with this close-up shot. Yep, that's him. Yikes.

Vagina Monologues Protest In Response to Largely Male GOP Banning Women's Speech

To contact us Click HERE
Playwright Eve Ensler will join nine female legislators and numerous actresses in Michigan on Monday evening to stage the The Vagina Monologues on the Capitol steps in Lansing. The protest is in response to the indefinite ban of the right of 2 women to speak. The women are lawmakers who committed the crime of offending some poor GOP men by uttering the word 'vagina'.

Just imagine, the word vagina is so powerful that the mostly male GOP tremble in fear and suspend the First Amendment rights of women!

Brown sparked the controversy when she said Wednesday: "I'm flattered that you're all so interested in my vagina, but no means no" -- a statement that opponents have called vulgar, unnecessarily provocative and an unfair reference to rape during a debate on bills about abortion.. . When will the speaking ban end? "I have no idea. I have never even heard officially why I can't speak," Brown said.

AFL-CIO Pulling Funds From Obama Campaign

What? Unions pulling funds from Obama? Lets see, it was only right before Obama's no show in Wisconsin when AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka issued a threat some would say Obama has long been asking for:

In a May speech at the National Press Club, AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka threatened to reduce support for the Democratic party and launch "an independent labor movement" if Democrats didn't more fully support the union agenda. "We will change the way we spend, the way we do things and the way we function that creates power for workers," Trumka said, according to the Associated Press.

Romney to GOP Governors: Shut-Up About the Improving Economy

To contact us Click HERE
The Romney campaign wants the Governors of Ohio, Virginia, Michigan and Wisconsin to shut-up about the improving economy and get on board with the Romney message that all is lost unless we elect Train-wreck Romney.

In fact, all is lost if Train-wreck Romney somehow gets himself into the White House, at which time he plans to strip away our  new rights to health care and raise income taxes on low income people by 60%.  (!)

Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign asked Florida Governor Rick Scott to tone down his statements heralding improvements in the state’s economy because they clash with the presumptive Republican nominee’s message that the nation is suffering under President Barack Obama, according to two people familiar with the matter.

Rick Scott, a Republican, was asked to say that the state’s jobless rate could improve faster under a Romney presidency, according to the people, who asked not to be named. What’s unfolding in Florida highlights a dilemma for the Romney campaign: how to allow Republican governors to take credit for economic improvements in their states while faulting Obama’s stewardship of the national economy. Republican governors in Ohio, Virginia, Michigan and Wisconsin also have highlighted improving economies.
